Kochi ( Cochin )

Kochi : Famous comercial centre. The chinees nets in the backwaters are very beautiful. This city is a mixture od Portuguese-Kerala-English Culture.
Mattanchery Paalace : A beatuful palace built by the Portuguese .Now it is known as Dutch Palace. Wall paintings of the 17th centuary is a specialty here. An art gallery is also found here.
Veega Land : All modern convenience for enjoyment is arranged here for tourists.
St. Francis church , Fort Kochi : Built by the Portuguese in the year 1510. Vasco Da Gama was buries here. This ids the first church built by the foreigners in India.
Synagogue : This Jewish church built in the year 1568 is situates in Mattanchery. The place surrounding the city of the Jews.
Bolgatty Island : Bolgatty Palace built by the Dutch is situated here. A hotel of KTDC is functioning here.
Dutch Palace : A palace built by the Portuguese at Mattanchery in 1555 and dedicated to the king of Kochi. the portraits of the kings of Kochi are exhibited here.
Wellington Island : This is a man-made island named Lord Willington, the British Viceroy. A number of Hotels and Government offices are functioning here.
Hill Palce Mesuim : Situated at Thrippunithura 10Km. away from Kochi. This palace belongs to the Maharaja of Kochi. Many articles related to the Kingdom are exhibits here.
Parikshit Thampuran Museum : This museum is situated at the Durbar hall road near Siva Temple. Many valuable articles of the Kingdome are kept here.
Kerala History Museum : This is situated at Edappally, 8 Km. away from Ernakulam.
Aluva River : This river flows through Aluva some 21 km. away from Ernakulam . There is a Siva Temple on the banks of this river and the 'Sivarathri' festival is famous.
Kaladi: Kaladi is the birth place of Sree Sankaracharya is situated 45Km. away from Kochi. this is one of the banks of Periyar. Sree Ramakrishna Advaithasramam and Sree Shankara Dome are located here. This is 8 km. from Angamaly railway station.
Malayattoor Church : This church is situated on the Malayttor Hills. 47 Km. away from Kochi and 29 km. a away from Aluva. Several Pilgrims came here to climb the hill which was sanctified by the feet of St. Thomas . Malayatoor festival is during the month is March- April.
Kodanadu : A place located near Perumbavoor famous for training elephants.Bhoothathankettu : Situated 50Km. away from Ernakulam. A suitable place for adventurous tours.
Bird Sanctuary Thattekkad : This is near Bhoothathankettu.
Periyar Valley : A place of Natural beauty near Bhoothathankettu.
Thirkkakkara : The ‘Vamanamoorthi' Temple at this place, between Alway and kalamassey is famous. It is relate to the legend of 'Thiruvonam'.
Municakal Cave : Situated at Chengamanad 30 Km. fro Kochi. Sree Muruga temple is located here. It is believed that grayer sage 'Jangama' and 'Chattambi swmikal' meditated in this cave.Cherayi Beach ; This beach is suitable fro swimming at Cherayi near north Paravur.
Vipin : This is an island with Aa light house.
Devi Temple, Chottanikkara : Located on the Thrippunithura route, 15Km. away from Ernakulam. The 'Makam Thozhal' in the Malayalam month of 'Kumbha' famous. 'Payasam' and 'Guruthi' are the important offerings.
